This photo was taken at the finish line of the Hot Chocolate Run 5K, around 11am on December 5, 2009.

The Hot Chocolate Run is an annual event that raises money to benefit Safe Passage, a domestic violence shelter/support organization.

My family has been participating in the walk that happens before the run for the last few years. I always admire the runners braving the cold.

At the end, the first 3000 or so people who registered get special coffee mugs designed by local cartoonist, Hilary Price ("Rhymes with Orange"), and there is always tons of hot chocolate with mini marshmallows for everyone.

At this point, we have 3 sets of the mugs. :)

This is the photo I submitted to day_on_earth, a community I really love because it gives me a varied view of the world, from the perspective of the average person, and reminds me how small the world really is. I wish more people would join it and post...especially my friends! I'd love to see what your "every day" looks like, wherever you are.

Sadie somehow ended up under my desk, while I was sitting at it, without my noticing. She has never done this before. Maybe she thinks it's like a crate?

Niagara Falls

Yeah, you read that headline right. Buttercup and I had to go to Victoria's Secret to get something for his aunt, before he left for Morocco. rj_swashbuckler and I were joking that I should buy something, and he said "Do they have anything pink there?"

I took this photo with my phone and sent it to him. Proof that yes, indeed, Victoria's Secret has pink. (No, I did not actually buy anything.)

When we were cleaning out my mom's house before it was sold, we found some strange things—like this nativity set, which I know my mother never used. Where did it come from? Was it even hers? Who knows?



rj_swashbuckler and I spent a little while on the beach in Narragansett, collecting our thoughts. I took this photo of the Towers, there. My mom loved the Towers and got a little ceramic lighted model of them for Christmas the year before she died, from her boyfriend Tom; it was the only thing he ask for to remember her by, afterwards. They are definitely a landmark of the place, to me.
